New Zealand itinerary - 2 month round trip

A two month round trip allows you to visit both of the North and South Island coasts and opens the way to many additional secluded but no less spectacular areas!

New Zealand's sights are pretty spread out, both islands are not to be underestimated in terms of beauty and size! Nevertheless, a 2 month itinerary will give you enough time for those many lonely places on the way and to visit the major highlights without any stress.

Round trip through both islands

A round trip allows you to visit both of the North and South Island coasts and opens the way to secluded but no less spectacular areas like Taranaki and Southland.

Two months is an ideal period for a tour of New Zealand, without having to be constantly on the move and with the additional flexibility to spontaneously react to bad weather forecasts or exciting travel tips on the way. You won't discover everything there is, but that really would take around two years to complete ...

Alternative routes

  1. Depending on whether you prefer to see the Waitomo Caves in the Waikato or the Forgotten World Highway it is necessary to optimise the route between Taupo, Tongariro and Taranaki. Of course you can always make shortcuts and save time for elsewhere.
  2. Arthur's Pass (in combination with Lewis Pass) is a possible detour.
  3. Stewart Island is an exciting excursion at the southern tip of the South Island!
  4. Instead of the East Cape you can explore the adventurous Te Urewera Rainforest Route.
